Project ScopeJDS was retained by Capstone to provide FS support and Engineering and Construction Management (EPCM) services in late 2005 to design and build a 1,400 ton per day (t/d) process plant, develop the mine and dry stack tailings facility, design and build a barge to traverse the Yukon river for access to site, construct an airstrip, 3 MW power plant, 130 person camp and supporting infrastructure. From the acquisition in mid-2005 to commercial production in June 2007, JDS led the feasibility study, managed the detailed engineering which was performed by Hatch and EBA, performed the procurement, managed the construction completed by Clark Builders and Pelly Construction and led commissioning completed by Clark Builders and Capstone personnel, delivering the project on-schedule and on-budget. JDS also provided significant input on permitting and geotechnical information. The construction budget of $100M and concentrate production targets were met.
JDS was subsequently retained to complete the EPCM services on the first expansion to 2,600 t/d as well as the erection and commissioning of a water filtration unit for environmentally safe discharge; which were executed on-schedule and on-budget.
JDS also completed the EPCM services for the second expansion to 3,500 t/d which again was completed on-schedule and on-budget.
