Cariboo Rail – Volunteering at Kamloops Youth Centre

Posted on June 16, 2021

As part of our commitment to supporting our Indigenous partners, a group of Cariboo Central Railroad Contracting Ltd. (Cariboo Rail) employees – Kristine Jefferies, Cameron Fraser, Gary Janzen and Tom McAvoy – volunteered alongside friends and members of the Tkemlups te Secwepemc band, to help restore the local youth centre’s planters in Kamloops, providing fresh produce to low-income families and youth.

The group spent the day collecting compostable green waste, lined the bottoms of planters with recycled cardboard, and replaced garden soil in 17 garden boxes that are now ready for planting.

On behalf of Cariboo Rail, a division of the JDS Group of Companies, we are grateful for Danalee Baker, KIB Business & Economic Coordinator, and her community for the opportunity to be invited to support the youth of the Ttes in a time when all of our thoughts have been on other matters.
